I was surprised to hear that Blockbuster is doing so poorly that they’re closing hundreds of stores. Do you think this is due to Netflix or other competitors? Do people just not want to take the time to go to the stores anymore? I was at Blockbuster Sat. night at 8:30 and I went to the head of the line. Usually, the queue would be full with a 10 min. wait…What do you think?

We did a report on Blockbuster in my Economics class last term. The competition that netfilx and redbox gives has hurt Blockbuster. Blockbuster has tried to enter the market with various rental plans which include: subscriptions and mail order and talks of kiosks like redbox that will either dispense DVDs or allow you to download them to media devices like thumb drives. However, their plans are all reactive, not proactive - they just entered the market too late. We’ll see if they can pull it out, but I wouldnt be suprised if they dont.
