OurConvo.com Provides Platform for People to Join in the Conversation
Frisco, Texas (Our Convo) April 7, 2009 – The days of keeping your opinion to yourself are over. At least that is the hope of Cody Caudill, developer of the new social networking website OurConvo.com. Our Convo is the latest addition to the sphere of social networking sites that links people via the internet. Our Convo invites users to share their views on any and every topic. The simple and crisp site most closely resembles a discussion forum but without the complicated interface of most platforms. The interface is straightforward and gets people talking in a matter of seconds.
The site provides a place for people to communicate online with a vast audience, build private groups for discussion, or simply to glean insight into public opinion. “There isn’t just one audience for the site,” says developer Cody Caudill. “Our Convo invites everyone to engage in the conversation – it is the first site of its kind to promote free speech,” says Caudill. Billed as “a free speech movement,” Caudill conceived the idea of the site over eight years ago. The site has been in development over the past six months and launched on April 1, 2009. This is “no fool’s” website though. The site has received 419 visits since that time and currently has 77 registered users. The conversations that have begun range from intelligent discussions over someone’s favorite book to controversial topics.
Our Convo promises uniqueness compared to other popular social networking sites and forums. The website has created a central marketplace for ideas and topics to come together, and it offers topics that will prompt nearly anyone to start talking. Our Convo user, John Andres said, “It is like an unedited version of Wikipedia.”
Our Convo’s goal is to make it easy for users to join in the conversation. The site employs the new Facebook Connect, which allows visitors to join Our Convo by using their Facebook profile. The user simply clicks on the Facebook Connect icon to begin posting to Our Convo. “I found myself drawn into the site. I had joined and was replying to a conversation within a matter of minutes,” says Our Convo user Layna Evans.
Each conversation is assigned a unique URL. The URLs are simple for easy sharing and quick access. The replies are displayed on a single, continuous page making them easy to follow. Users can choose to receive an email update when a single conversation string is updated or on all conversations. Users may also choose to receive RSS feeds whenever the site is updated. Our Convo adheres to a strict no SPAM policy and privacy policy.
